WELCOME TO WAAO
I would like to begin this year with a thank you to all the past-presidents, Executive Board members and committee members for their service to the organization. Many of these great professionals have served as mentors to me as I have gotten my bearings in the assessment profession. They have encouraged me to go outside of my comfort level and take on new challenges, such as being president.
As we begin this new year, I will start by taking a look back at our Mission Statement and Strategic Plan to make sure that these items are still relevant as we move forward. Our membership has seen some significant changes over the last couple of years which will continue as we move forward and continue seeing more retirements. I want to ensure that our membership is all reaching for the same goals.
Many of the WAAO members and also non-members have reached out to me as I embark on this new journey of being president. I have felt the passion that many of you have for the assessment profession and how we each strive to have accurate and defendable data. As we move through the next year, don’t be surprised if you see a survey or two asking you about your WAAO membership. I want to see where we are preforming well and where we could be doing better for our members.
My goal over the next year is to help lay out a path forward for those who will serve after me. If you have an item that you feel passionate about, please reach out and let me know.
As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, we will have new struggles that will come our way. However, if we all continue to work together on these struggles we will keep a unified message throughout the state.
Again thank you for efforts on behalf of WAAO and I look forward to working with each of you during the coming year.
