POSITION:
|
ASSESSMENT CLERK
|
|
DESCRIPTION:
|
Performs specialized and complex clerical work requiring the application of
knowledge gained through experience in property assessment record keeping.
|
|
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
Processes all recorded conveyances, mortgages, leases, judgments,
affidavits, easements, disclaimers and transfer fee forms. Review
recorded legal descriptions and compose appropriate taxing
descriptions. Processes and records permit information on data
cards and prepares listings by date and key numbers. Assists with
the collection, verification and valuation of assessable personal
property. Maintains plat book updates for accuracy. Performs Real
Property Listing duties for the City, assisting with land splits,
updating tax parcel maps for assessment purposes and parcel mapping
including numbering, changing, deleting and adding parcels as well
as recording land transfers. Prepares files for Open Book and Board
of Review hearings. Assists in the collection of data to develop
unit value factors for revaluing neighborhoods. Reviews the
Department of Revenue industrial real estate roll for accuracy in
ownership, legal description, key number and area; enters final
values. Provides information on plat descriptions, ownership,
addresses and code numbers as requested by City departments,
surveyors, realtors and the public. Maintains records and types
letters, forms, reports, articles and other material from copy or
rough copy. Performs data entry relative to various databases on
personal computer and mainframe operations. Processes all incoming
mail. Maintains assessment staff appointment books and general
office calendar. Operates duplicating, calculating, word processing
and other office equipment. Composes correspondence in accordance
with standard policy. Assists in the supervision of duties of
subordinate personnel. Keeps time and attendance records for
department. Maintains an inventory of office supplies, materials
and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
|
Two years experience in clerical
work within an assessment office or real estate related is required
along with the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Wisconsin
Department of Revenue Assessment Technician certification.
Knowledge of the state laws and municipal ordinances governing the
assessment and collection of taxes. Ability to read, verify and
interpret property records and legal property descriptions.
Proficient in the use of spreadsheet and word processing software.
Knowledge of records management, business mathematics and office
procedures. Ability to work harmoniously with staff and public.
Excellent communication skills. Good organizational skills.

SALARY:

Start $16.27/hr After 1 year $17.99/hr After
2 yrs. $18.26/hr
|
|
|
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
|
