Host Committee Minutes – January 27, 2005

 

  1. Update on Conference issues since last meeting
    1. Met with Visit Milwaukee representative Becky Machi, Kris and Mike.  Becky indicated that she would be coming to Alaska to present info to promote Milwaukee and Wisconsin.  We are also seeking Visit Milwaukee assistance for the set up and delivery of the Harley picture promo.  Kris is handling that on our behalf.
    2. Kris is getting a quote for the promo piece that we discussed at our previous meeting.  This will be a conference specific brochure – thus not conflicting with the Visit Milwaukee info.
    3. The Midwest Center is in the process of developing a cyber café.  We will be supplied with more specifics as their plan takes shape.
  2. Slogan  -- After much discussion it was decided to go with

    INTERNATIONAL CONCEPTS – HOMETOWN APPLICATIONS

  3. Alaska Promotions for conference – We will discuss this further at our next meeting.  Items to fully discuss at that time include –
    1. Staffing booth in exhibit hall
    2. Decision on our presence to be at the silent auction.  (Kemment sauage idea or other)
    3. Decision on our silent auction item
  4. Other Promotions
    1. Reviewed several types of conference bags.  We have narrowed our choices to 3.  Tina will find out more information and we will make a final decision at our next meeting.
    2. Clocks – We are in the process of ordering 50 clocks that will be available for purchase and other gifts.
    3. Investigate sending letter to other assessment organizations in the Midwest area – will review this at next meeting
  5. Letterhead – Although the team liked the color version better we are in the process of slightly redesigning the black/white version to save on costs.  Although this will be finalized at the next meeting we will use the black/white version for some of the initial fundraising.  There was no support for putting host committee member names and cities anywhere on the letterhead.
  6. Web site – Steve is designing the web site.  We will ask WAAO if there is any problem hosting this material until October of 2005.  At that point IAAO would host the information.  We discussed general layout and the types of information that would be available..  When the information gets posted committee members will be alerted.  At that time more specific comments can be sent to Steve.  This will be a topic at the next meeting.
